Taipei, Taiwan, Protech Systems Co., Ltd., the leading provider of industrial computers, successfully launched an industrial PC that combines multi-channel video capture capability with an energy-efficient CPU to exceed the computing requirements of security surveillance, manufacturing automation, and digital in-vehicle or mobile video applications. The EPC-8612F industrial PC ships with a high-performance Intel® Celeron® M Ultra-Low Voltage 1 GHz processor mounted on a space-saving motherboard together with the Intel® 852GM chipset and the Intel® ICH4 I/O hub. Featuring support for up to 16 channels of video capture, the EPC-8612F flawlessly runs on Windows® XP/XPe/2000/CE and Linux operating systems for an unbeatable balance of performance, reliability and value.
Designed to capture multiple streams, the EPC-8612F compresses video captures into MPEG-4 format and directly stores them into a supported 2.5" or 3.5" hard disk drive media with up to 500 GB capacity. To achieve multi-channel video capturing, the EPC-8612F is equipped with two VGA-out ports that are compatible with PAL and NTSC TV standards. Protech also bundles a Software Development Kit (SDK) on every EPC-8612F package to speed up application development and deployment.
The EPC-8612F reinforces its processing power with up to a Gigabyte of DDR266 system memory on a single SODIMM slot. The dynamic processor-memory configuration enables the EPC-8612F to capture videos faster and sustains rapid frame rates without slowing down system response. With minimal CPU power consumption and heat generation, the EPC-8612F fanless operation reduces system maintenance and operating noise. The fanless architecture also allows for a smaller form factor and easier integration into space-restricted environments.
The EPC-8612F's strict revision control and industrial-grade durability support a longer operating lifecycle. Designed to withstand vibration and resist shocks, the EPC-8612F efficiently operates in rugged computing environments.
Multi-Channel Video Capture and More
The EPC-8612F takes advantage of the 32-bit integrated graphics controller in the Intel® 852GM chip for its video capturing operations. The 3D graphics core implements the Dynamic Video Memory Technology (DVMT) that intelligently allocates memory for resource-intensive video capture and other computing tasks. DVMT helps eliminate system bottlenecks and improves system response for superior performance. The built-in graphics controller also lowers the EPC-8612F's energy consumption and total cost of ownership for value-added practicality.
The graphics engine enables the EPC-8612F to capture four simultaneous video channels with speeds of up to 50 frames per second (fps) for PAL and up to 60 fps NTSC. A full 16-channel multiple video setup on the EPC-8612F achieves a capture rate of up to 25 fps for PAL and 30 fps for NTSC.
The EPC-8612F plays host to a comprehensive line of I/O interfaces including two high-speed USB 2.0 ports, a 10/100 BASE-T Ethernet port, two serial communication ports supporting RS232/422/485, and an 8-channel audio interface that supports the audio jacks in the system rear panel.
Protech uses only the highest-grade materials and complies with the strictest environmental regulations to ensure that all its products are safe for industrial use.
