Environmental concerns around the world are fueling the need for RoHS solutions
in electronic components and systems within the electronics industries. Potential
health hazards posed by lead (Pb) contamination are a major concern to everyone.

pursues its social responsibility for global environmental preservation by committing
to be compliant with European Union "Restriction on Use of Hazardous Substance
in Electrical and Electronic Equipment" or "RoHS" Directive before
July 1, 2006.
Protech products are manufactured with production processes that do not add
or contain the banned substances of Lead (Pb), Mercury (Hg), Cadmium (Cd), Hexavalent
Chromium (Cr6+), Polybrominated biphenyls (PBB), and Polybrominated diphenyl
Ethers (PBDE) as outlined in the RoHS directive.
World-Class Manufacturing
To convert to RoHS products, Protech Systems imports several Pb-free equipments,
including lead-free/ eutectic hot-air reflow oven, modular high-speed mounter,
and wave solder machine, etc. To refine the lead-free manufacturing processes
and provide a reliable and high-quality solderable finish, we work with our
suppliers to clarify standards and identify compatible substances, and select
Tin/Sliver/Copper (Sn/Ag/Cu) as the new plating materials to substitute the
restricted materials. No RoHS restricted materials have been introduced into
the finish during its manufacturing processes is called RoHS product. Therefore,
the following issues are concerned:
Qualification of RoHS products- updating the product portfolio
with RoHS solutions that meet industrial standards
Reliability- the ability of our components to cope with the
higher temperatures of new manufacturing/assembly processes, and ensuring the
reliability of solder joints using new materials
Consistent Quality and Reliability
Protech has pursued careful and robust qualification for Pb-free conversion.
The following testing will be included:
Solderability- including Pull/Shear Test, Cross-section Test
Reliability- including Thermal Shock, Vibration, Drop, Moisture
Sensitivity Level, Tin Whisker, and Aging Test.
Besides, Protech will have 3rd party laboratory to analyze the relative solder
joint strength and product reliability and get certifications from the laboratory
to 100% ensure the product quality.
